PORT HOOD, N.S. — It's only been out since September but the first cookbook from Port Hood's Mary Janet MacDonald is already a Canadian bestseller and has even landed on the Amazon.ca top 10 list, beating out such well-known chefs as Gordon Ramsey, Snoop Dogg, Stanley Tucci and Mary Berg.
"It's in excess of 10,000 copies," said Vernon Oickle, managing editor of MacIntyre Purcell Publishing Inc, the publisher of "Tunes and Wooden Spoons: Recipes from A Cape Breton Kitchen."
"This is a Canadian bestseller three times over in Canada. It's been in high demand since Mary Janet started talking about it on her Facebook page. We had a long list of backorders even before the warehouse received any books."
